The Day Spirit Introduced themselves

Eighteen years ago this event changed my whole outlook on life.

One evening in early 2004 I drove up into the hills north-west of Frankfurt to collect water from a popular spring in a town called Königstein. At the time I was active in the Raw Food / Natural Hygiene movement in the area and periodically went to various springs for healthy drinking water. As per usual there was a queue of people, many with large containers, and the opportunity for some small talk whilst I was waiting. Having filled my bottles I took them back to my car and began the 30 km or so drive back to Langen. Little did I realise that it would be a drive of some significance.

It was still winter and there was a sprinkling of snow on the road. I had winter tyres on and was quite used to driving in wintry conditions. Although it was past eleven at night, the road downhill was still relatively busy with one lane in each direction. Everybody was driving at a moderate speed maintaining a sensible distance with the car in front.

Then it happened. The brake light of the car in front went on so I braked gently too. Suddenly I found myself being moved violently to the left and back to the right of the road and was unable to gain any control over the car. There were cars coming up the hill in the other lane and several times I expected to crash into one of them but somehow I was moved away just before contact. Finally, I finished in up in a small ditch on the left side of the road.

I got out somewhat shaken and wondered how I was going to get out when almost immediately a car coming down the hill stopped and a young, angelic looking man with a friendly smile got out. He said he had a rope in his boot and asked me if I would like him to pull me out. Hardly believing my luck I of course said yes. He then drove across the road, tied the rope to my front bumper and pulled me out. I thanked him and he drove off.

As I got into my car I was still shaking a little. Not one of the drivers who I had been about to crash into as I was being moved across the road had reacted. None had braked or swerved, none had beeped their horn and none had even looked in my direction. Similarly, when I got out of the car in the ditch all the drivers going uphill simply ignored me. It was as if they had not seen me at all. Indeed, I later realised that this had been the case.

It was a few months later after joining a Reiki group that my teacher told me that Spirit was letting me know they were there. I found it difficult to take in the magnitude of what had happened and the meaning of it all at the time but in due course it sank in. Spirit had decided that it was time for themselves to introduce themselves to me in order to guide me in the direction of my life purpose. At the time I was feeling rather low and was looking for some direction in life. For some time I had had a feeling that there was something I was supposed to do but could not put my finger on it. Never did I imagine that I would train to become a spiritual healer and medium. But that is what happened.

A couple of years later it happened again in a much smaller way. It was a gentle reminder that I was to stay on my spiritual path and not allow others to divert me from this.

Over the years I have come to believe that Spirit / the universe or whatever phrase you wish to use has the power to move us in a direction that fits into our general life plan. If we resist then they will make it harder for us on the path we are on until we move in the direction that is the right one for us in this life at that time. They have certainly done that to me a few times over the years.

Perhaps you have had such an experience. Perhaps you had a kind of tower moment when everything seemed to collapse around you and you could not understand why. Did this event result in you changing direction in some way that has led you to evolving more spiritually? Then perhaps it was meant to happen like that.

We should not underestimate the power of Spirit to use energy to push any one of us or even the whole human race in a direction of its choosing when it thinks the time is right. Look at what is happening in the world at the moment. Is it a coincidence or is this the moment in time that we are meant to take a gigantic leap forward in consciousness?

These are exciting and challenging times.
